Two Frozen Hearts Prologue

"Elsa?" Anna knocked again on her older sister's door. As always no one answered. The five year old sighed and then walked away. The castle had been empty for a long time now. Well long for her. The happiness that once filled the many halls and the laughters that echoed through had disappeared and been replace with dead silence. The young princess returned to her room and sat alone on her bed, looking down.

His first act of being a guardian was to make sure all children had fun. He was led to the city of Arendelle. The placed looked nice enough, but he could feel a child's unhappiness. It was pulling him towards the city. Still he had to do his job and worry about it once he was done. They probably would be laughing by the time he was done.
Jack created snow and spread it over the city, covering it under a blanket of snow. Many of the children had come out to play in the snow and began to have fun. But as he flew to the castle he spotted Anna's open window and the little girl all sad and alone. The sight of snow didn't even interest her. The spirit flew in and to both their surprise the girl saw him and she quickly hid behind the curtain draping over her bed. But she stilled peeked out to look at him.

"I'm not going to hurt you." He said using a gentle voice and holding his hands up to show he meant her no harm. The little girl still stayed in her hiding spot.

"What's your name?" He asked.
"Ah...Anna." She replied shakily.
Anna.
"I'm Jack. Jack Frost." He held out his hand toward her.

Feeling less scared of the stranger, Anna hopped out from behind the curtain and shook his hand. She even gave him a smile. "Your hands cold." She giggled as they let go.

Jack gave a light chuckle. "Well I'm a cold guy. You see..." He kneeled down so he was eye level to her. "I'm the spirit of winter. I'm the one who makes it snow and freeze."

"Wow." Anna said wide eyed.

"But other than that I'm also the guardian of fun." He grinned.

Anna lit up at the mention of fun. "So you can make it fun here?" She asked excitedly clasping her hands together.

Jack nodded. "Watch." He said and formed a snowflake in his hand and let it fly around the girl before it landed and disappeared in her nose letting blue sparkles form causing her to laugh. Jack smiled at her. There was something about her. Something different.

"Well, I have to go. Still need to make it winter somewhere." He said as he got up and headed towards the window.

"Are you gonna come back?!" She asked looking at his back which was facing her.

Jack threw his staff over his shoulder and turned back to her with a grin. "I promise." He gave a nod and then flew out the window. He was going to make sure he'd come back to her. He saw that she was a little girl who needed a friend and he was going to be that friend. Plus like before, there was something special about her that drew him in.

Little Anna watched out her window as he flew off. He did promise her that he'll be back. But when? Was the question. He promised her and that was good enough for the princess.
